My Dearest Avery,
I am so proud of you this summer. As you've started getting ready to go into Kindergarten, I've really just started to notice and appreciate how polite and respectful you are. You're also wicked smart right now even though you don't realize it. You're always saying how you've gotten worse when it comes to working your summer packet but really you've gotten so much better! And I try to tell you that every time but I'm not convinced I've convinced you.
You are also the absolute best big sister. You love on your brother like nobody's business and he simply adores you and wants to be like you. You two love to cuddle with each other, tickle each other, dance with each other and follow each other. His mischievous side always makes you laugh. You are starting to get mad at him when he takes your toys without asking (he doesn't know he's supposed to ask yet - he's just learning how to talk).
In the past two months since I wrote, you've had petting zoo days at summer camp, sign language days, water days and lots more. You've also gone to San Diego with us as a little family to get out of the heat over the fourth of July. We also had our last mommy/daughter day before you start Kinder, where we went to see Toy Story 4 and went swimming together. No more mommy/kid days on my off Fridays since you're going to be in big kid school!
Oh, and you did a camp day at your new school, Basis, to learn the rules and get a feel for what it will be like when you are there. While I'm not usually worried about your adaptability (you reminded me I was just dropping you off the first day of PreK), dad said you were timid when you were dropped off at camp that day so I think you have at least a small amount of anxiousness starting the new school. And it broke my heart to learn that they taught you what to do in case of a lock down situation. I know every school has to have this protocol now but it's a slap in the face wake up call for us parents.
Here's your life in pictures right now.....
