Summer 2018

My Dearest Avery,

Oh my sweet little girl. You have had quite a busy summer and you've grown and grown, mentally and physically. You can now spell your name (verbally and on paper) and you're learning quickly through all of your "why" questions - haha.

We're starting to see you as a beautiful young lady, instead of a toddler. You remind us with your sly looks and your beautiful long hair that you're growing up right before our eyes. We're working on nighttime potty training and that will be the last big hurdle into official childhood.

You, my dear, have the biggest heart. You only want to do good and be good - you have your moments where you disobey us or test the boundaries (and you've already lied a time or two) but you generally have good intentions. And you're SO SO good with your brother. You are a great entertainer for him and he adores you - you're the one who makes him laugh the most! And you love on dad and me. You give dad "haircuts" which is really just a way he gets you to rub his head, which he really likes. And you give me hugs and kisses whenever I ask for them.

You've become really good at riding your scooter around the neighborhood - you're a regular pro. You prefer it to your bike. And you've really come far in your swimming - you really don't need dad or me next to you MOST of the time in the pool, but we're there nonetheless. You're about to move up in levels in both swim and soccer - we're so proud of your progress. We can't wait to see what the future has in store for you athletically - you can do whatever you put your mind to.

In two days you're going to move up in classes to Pre-K. You will move from Ms Misty and Ms Sally to Ms Clara and Ms Ramona. Dad and I are excited for this change but we're not sure you understand you will not be with Ms Misty and Ms Sally each day. Your class size will DOUBLE and you will learn to read this next year! We've already got you some books - you're excited for it (at least right now you are).

Here is your life in pictures right now....

Out playing:

You just love riding this scooter

You also love making silly faces for pictures

The rare rain in Arizona - start of monsoon season. We skipped brother's nap to let you go out and play in it!

Love love love this picture....you're about to conquer that puddle!

peek-a-boo with brother!

Some pics of you with your family:

Fixing dad's hair....he loves this way more than you do haha

Ok, when did you turn 16?!

Enjoying the pool!

Doing your nails!

You like to do the yard work with dad!
You entertaining brother...he no longer fits in this swing!

Brother's first time in a swing

His first time in a cart - you were a bit jealous he got to sit in there. You wanted in the back but so far I've not let you get away with that.

Another walk!

Maybe you'll start a band!

My babies!

Couldn't get a 7-month picture of him alone - you're always by his side :)

Two peas in a pod

Playing before school

You're a good teacher

Child labor - no shame here....you're such a big help!
Some school pics and pics of a school friend's bday party:

The Little Mermaid came to the party!

And you got make-up!

And a crown

And you flapped your arms when they told you to pose?!?!?!

Ok, where did you learn to bend your knee like that? Too old for your age!

Getting ready for your next class at school!

End of the school year!
And finally, our trip to Colorado to go to my friend, Jessica's wedding:

the rare mommy/daughter picture!

your new friend - you were disappointed he left before the dancing began

for such a big dancer, you sure do hop a lot instead of dancing. but it's super cute!

Avery, our lives revolve around you right now. You're the best daughter we could have ever asked for. You are sweet and respectful and helpful and thankful. You and your brother are my everything and I love you more than you'll ever know. I can't wait to see what this fall has in store for you!

All my love,
Mom
