My Dearest Avery,
You are keeping us very busy right now. You've had a ton of fun playing with and entertaining your brother and you're awesome at getting him what he needs to be happy. You're super helpful and happy. You also have become very opinionated and stuck in things having to go your way (this may come from me, sorry). You have trouble going to bed on your own (you sleep with a light and often have one of us in bed with you to fall asleep). You also have no concept of going to the bathroom when you have your nighttime pull-up on. It pretty much overflows every night (ew). We need to do a better job of helping you with that but I'll be honest, it's a hard concept for you to grasp. You like to come into our room sometimes to finish sleeping. One morning recently I didn't hear you come in but you crept up between me and where brother was laying in his bouncer on the floor and you started softly singing the ABCs to me to wake me up. I can't imagine a better way to be woken up :) It was so sweet and when I reached out for you, you just softly asked if you could lay on the floor next to brother.....so sweet!
You're loving swim lessons and your new play set in the backyard. You also love finding new friends in the neighborhood. You have a great time at school and are very talkative with the teachers and other kids. Ms Sally and Ms Misty are your teachers and Ms Misty told me you told a little boy in your class that he was your boyfriend. When he said he didn't want to be your boyfriend, you told him you didn't ask him - and he submitted to your wishes. You're definitely a handful but I think you'll find a balance in good time.
You've also developed hives over the last month. We weren't sure what from - the doctor thought it might be from a virus. As of right now, we're thinking you're allergic to children's Motrin (and Ibuprofen) but we will ask if there's a way to test for it at your 4 year check-up.
Here's your life in pictures right now....
playing in our newly-finished backyard! |
cute outfit - you dress yourself now (not always this coordinating) |
scooter fun! |
still in love with trains! |
with grandma when she came to visit - on the train in scottsdale |
And here are several of you helping to entertain your brother and calm him down - he adores you!
such a big help - I can't even tell you how wonderful you are with him. you even got mad at me because in my new car, you can't reach him to help calm him down. while I think this might help in the future, it's definitely a bummer for you right now. |
haha - cheerleading for him! |
Spending some quality time with dad:
helping build your playset! |
you love helping dad with your tools. even when he's not around and you think something's broken, you run to get your tools! |
yet another thing to build...your desk! this has led to him working with you on building your first computer! |
assembly instructions! |
again, you dressed yourself haha |
playset fun! |
And these are some good ones I got of you at swim lessons. You're very hyper at swim, which doesn't always work out well for you but I can see you're still learning a lot!
Avery, you're more fun to have around than we ever imagined. Dad thinks you're going to grow up to be just like him - he sees himself in you ALL the time. I see some of me in you too....for better or for worse! You're sweet, assertive, opinionated, silly and sensitive. I love you SO much and can't believe it's been almost four years that we've had you around! Where has the time gone?!
All my love,
Mom
