My Dearest Avery,
You are still growing way too fast for me to keep up! You’re
a ball full of energy and you’re constantly reminding me that you’re not a baby
anymore. You talk back, wave your finger and say “no no no no” to me, help
yourself to things on the counter, climb into chairs by yourself and even
buckle yourself in. I keep hearing that it will only get worse but I try not to
believe it. My saving grace is that you still let me hug and kiss you like
crazy, you tell me you love me and to have a good day, and you sometimes sit in my lap and let me rock
you like a baby. You have no idea how much those little things mean to me.
As a two-year-old, we’ve caught you climbing way too high,
trying to play with scissors, open the back door by yourself, pushing a cart
around the store by yourself (however misguided, you did it), always want to
play outside, and cuss! That last one still has me very upset and we are
working to correct it but it’s the shameful truth (your father and I are not
perfect, so we’re learning). You are also still loving swim lessons and getting
so used to the water – I still have a ways to go to feeling as comfortable
letting go as you learn to do things in the water
by
yourself.
You’ve also managed to spread hand-foot-and-mouth to your
entire daycare (I think other parents hate us since you were also the biter).
That was NOT fun but we got through it.
Other things you’re doing these days: applying fake make-up
like mommy, playing ready-set-go and throwing a ball, pulling dad and me up to
play with you, training on the potty (and learning to pull your pants up and down), copying posture and poses, saying
“please” and “thank you” and “you’re welcome” (although many times we’ll ask
you what do you say and you’ll say “you’re welcome” when it should really be
one of the other two), saying “puck” instead of “cup” which throws me off every
time, saying “mine” as you hoard toys in your arms (you’re pretty selfish,
actually), and you’ve been the example child at soccer! You're learning colors, shapes, numbers, your name, and the alphabet song. You write with both hands and organize your pens and pencils, like I do (so proud)! My, what a ways you’ve
come! You have a best friend at daycare (a boy) and you’re in love with “Masha
and the Bear” cartoons on YouTube. I’m thinking you’ll be Masha for Halloween! Oh, and you call Kansas "Tizzy" for some odd reason.....now we call her Tizzy too - ha!
You constantly ask for Mommy or Daddy when the other is
there, which we love and hate at the same time. Here are some pics from our
adventures over the past few months……
Spending time with daddy:
 |
At the Sporting KC soccer game while mom was out with the girls! |

You poor thing...trying to read a book while dad was bugging you with one of his new IT toys! |

Another adventure....potty training....

Just like daddy! |
 |
And, of course, we have to train the doll too :) |
Father's day we took daddy to a hotel (and had smores):
 |
Yum! |
Soccer still continues....
 |
Still trying to learn how to share... |
And your friend at daycare:
My sweet little girl, what would we do without you? I’ve
started planning for your big girl room, although I’m hoping to get through
potty training first, so you only have one major change at a time. Your dad and I love you more than anything!
All my love,
Mom
