San Diego

My Dearest Avery,

I saved a separate post for our most recent trip, since we got a lot of great pics from this one. We took you to San Diego this March on a family vacation. It was a blast and you wore us out! Here's what we did....

Heading to the zoo on our first day!
Yes, we made you hike it! Uphill even! You were a champ!
Stylin' as always
San Diego zoo is awesome!

Hippos! This was a mom and a calf (1 year old)

Sliding with dad!
I think the petting zoo was your favorite - you loved putting your cheek up to their coats!

Ready for the pool!
The view from our balcony!
Happy St Patty's Day - have a green velvet cupcake! (you squeezed it in your hands and got it all over the store)
With dad on the beach!

The water was cold - you came back to me shivering!
First time on the merry go round! You loved it!
Can barely see your head on the race cars!

Sea World! You love aquariums!

Feeding the flamingos!

Napping with daddy! We wore you out!
Checking out the monkeys - they were eating!
Panda! He was active!
Sea World dolphins!

All tuckered out with your turtle pillow and hippo stuffed animal :)
All in all, it was a good trip and you had a blast looking at all the animals, riding your first rides ever, visiting the beach, and shopping. It was a much needed family vacation and you helped mom and dad enjoy it to the max!

All my love,
Mom

Catching Up

My Dearest Avery,

Time to play catch-up on all that's happened since last summer! We've had lots of playing time together, which has been so much fun. And it's amazing how you've grown in such a few short months. At your 18 month appointment in November you were 25 pounds, 8 ounces and 32.25 inches long. The doctor called you stout!! and said that we could switch you from whole milk to 2% :)

Here's what you're doing now: you're wearing mom and dad's shoes around the house a lot, you like to carry your baby in your buggy and you love having a purse or bucket filled with toys on your arm. You sing "row, row, row..." and expect us to finish the song :), You copy just about everything we do (so we're being very careful), You say "'scuse you" when you or someone else sneezes or coughs (sorry, you picked that up from me), You like washing your hands at the sink, You help with chores like putting laundry in the washer or putting dishes from the dish washer away, You go on lots of walks with me (LOVING the stroller), You sleep with lots of blankets and a water bottle, You like to say "ready set GO", and You LOVE playing outside!

First things first, in September Grandma and Pop Wadsworth came to visit you. I didn't get very many good pictures but here are a few:

At the Phoenix zoo, right before you bumped your head!
Feeding the giraffes!

How many apples can you get?

More fall fun from October:

You liked the dump trucks so you got one for Christmas!

So helpful...you carried your brother's pumpkin!
No carving this time around!
You were a bat....because you were a biter (hehe)!

You also had your second visit to the dentist, and your first time in a dentist chair! Believe it or not, they said they wished every kid was like you:

And we did Thanksgiving in Kansas City, but you and dad were sick so it wasn't as fun as we'd hoped :(

We stayed at Grandma and Pop's house - you loved looking out all their windows!
And we had lots of fun playing around Tucson:

While we clean the garage....
Who doesn't ride a sea horse in her swimsuit?!

You OWN that splash park all by yourself!
You can't get enough of wearing our shoes! Right now you like mom's shoes that make loud noises on the laminate floors!

You make dad wear this bucket as a hat every chance you get - hehe!

Still loving trains! We took you to a train expo!
Watching Ash's son play baseball...and resting after soccer.
You've begun to feed yourself :)
Daddy trying to wear you out on the soccer field!
Feeding Olaf, of course! (feeding him the lentils you're supposed to be eating)
Waiting patiently with dad (for mom to finish at the store)
This is a pretty accurate depiction of who runs the household these days...
Cruisin' in style

Hi mom, just pushing around my favorite buggy with baby in it (while wearing dad's shoes)!
Because stomping in water puddles is fun...
Stickers stickers everywhere....thanks, Aunt Jess for sending them!

At Frozen on Ice!

Picking out your clubs!

Running the train! You're a pro!
Helping dad build your stuffed animal zoo!

You LOVE animals - this is Chief, the dog at daycare!
You've also started to say "cheese" for the camera...

And you're beginning to pick out your own outfits.....lord help us all (at least it's entertaining):

You LOVE leg warmers....and tutus! (just like Aunt Cara)a
Cowgirl!

Yes, you picked it out!
Can't help myself :)

The Royals won it all this year! You got a nice new jersey from Grandma and Pop!
Twinkies!
Could we find any more shades of pink?!
Model pose!
Adorbs!
And you started soccer! You're not the most obedient kid in the group but you have fun and wear yourself out most of the time. There was a while there where you cried through the whole thing because you weren't getting to do what you wanted to, when you wanted to do it, though. You give dad a run for his money!

First day... you loved the bubbles!
Of course you had to wear a tutu that day!

Worn out?! Ha!
Our little sports star!

Playing with Grandma Gail!

Tough soccer star!

Finally a smile!
We had a pretty busy Christmas and New Year's season in Tucson with you:

Trying to enjoy the snow falling at La Encantada but you didn't care much for it :)
Making cookies for Santa!
Yeah, you hated visiting Santa :(
Enjoying the Christmas train!
This one makes me so proud! You were patiently waiting your turn to open your gift at daycare!
The lights at Winterhaven!
The damage Christmas morning! You loved everything you got! Christmas is so much fun with you around!
Enjoying new years!
We celebrated early and put you to bed but you were still partying with your noisemakers! Party animal!
Grandma Gail came to visit in February - she kept you company while we handled Alex's arrival and arrangements for him (so lucky to have her)!

Sneaky little devil!
Then, Grandma Dotty came to visit! You had 2 straight weeks of being spoiled by grandparents! Obviously there was lots of play time outside.

While this has been a difficult time in our lives, you've been the shining star through all of it. I don't know what we'd do without you. Every day you just get cuter and cuter. About a week after Alex passed, you had your doll in a blanket in your arms and dad and I watched as you kissed the doll on the head three times. It was the sweetest sight to see and it made me think of you holding him :) You're the best and it just keeps getting better every day! I can honestly say that you're my favorite person in the whole world and I'm so lucky to be able to come home to you EVERY DAY!

Love,
Mom
