Summer to Fall

My Dearest Avery,

As you might expect from reading these, I think you keep getting better and better every day. You're so much fun right now (have always been that way, though). You're sassy, you repeat everything we say, you try to tell us what to do, you love your dogs (Bax and Tizzy), you love to dance, you always want to see or "wear" princess, you love swim and soccer, you can undress yourself and put some of your shoes on yourself, and you're growing so fast. You're a big time animal lover and I just saw you open a regular door knob for the first time today!

Some things I want to remember about your early years:

  • I calm you down with "hush little baby"
  • Sometime when I sing, you tell me to "shhh"
  • You sometimes still want me to hold you like a baby and sing rock-a-bye baby, which is a song I'll never understand....you ask for "rock-a-baby"; I oblige because I know there will be a day when you won't let me hold you like a baby
  • You sweetly say "no no no no" when I call for dad after reading you a bedtime story (that means it's time for bed)
  • You don't like having your hair brushed
  • You can say "no, mom" just like a teenager already (breaks my heart)
  • You ask for Emma and Grandpa all the time
  • You love playing outside
  • You're still a cuddler, which daddy and I both take advantage of
  • You like to grab our hand to pull us to something
  • You have the largest pouty lip I've ever seen
  • You say "be nice" a lot because you get told it a lot.....at daycare and at home
You're still potty training; we went to Colorado for a week, which I think set us back but that's ok. You're doing well during the days - will get to the nights at some point. You're scared of the flushing of public toilets and for a while there you thought the hand dryer was a hair dryer!

You also have daycare songs you sing and you're good at ABCs, your numbers, and puzzles. You love learning time! But you get frustrated easily, like your mom.

Here's the past few months in pictures.....

You and dad brush your teeth - you now brush your teeth like dad does his!
Soccer!

You're always the most stylish one there!
Helping dad fix all our leaks - actually, you kept wanting to go back and fix it again!
Helping dad make dinner
Getting groceries at the farmer's market
Horrible joke you and dad played on me....and to top it off, you look cute!

Waiting for mom to get home already!
Love you, Bax!
Shoe shopping with mom - we couldn't be further apart in our shoe choices but the second we hit a shoe section, you're on the floor and taking off your shoes so you're ready to try things on!
Water park! You love this place...hate leaving too!
Playing at the park on a beautiful day!
Matching apron and oven mitt with the doll! You taking care of your baby!
Goof ball - not sure you could add any more pink
Where exactly do you think you're going?
And here are the many ways we've done your hair....or just let it be - you don't seem to mind messy hair all that much - and sometimes you much prefer it to me brushing it!

We did a vacation to Phoenix for Labor Day...and took the dogs!
Hanging at the pool!
Dive in movie: Inside Out
At the butterfly sanctuary...we had no idea how much you'd love butterflies

First time getting your face painted!

Then, we had two back-to-back wedding in Colorado so we made a vacation out of it!

Goofy!
Hiking at the Garden of the Gods
Beautiful day and you were so happy hiking!
Long way up!

Done hiking and still lookin' good!
Your travel gear...never go without Javi
Pulling your weight....and not letting us help

Learning...
Fun at the Denver zoo!

Carousel after party

Shopping in Boulder....you had enough of dad, I guess!
Fun with Aunt Belinda - she gave you loads of toys!
Bob, playing the part...
Wedding #2: Ginger and Chris - you had a blast on the dance floor
Dancing with dad!
Dancing with grandpa!

Finally, we had a lot of fall and Halloween fun in October. Dad even sacrificed a Sunday of not watching the Patriots for us to go to a pumpkin patch! Yeah, he really loves us!

First pony ride!

Picking out pumpkins for you and Alex...
Found it!

You're a butterfly this year...I will try to add photos from the actual night later. This was a party the weekend before!
There's the cutie pose - haha!
Oh Avery. How much fun we have with you! You keep things so interesting and lively and fast. We love you to the moon and back - can't wait for the holiday season with you!

All my love,
Mom
